Assembling

Bosscreen™ is manufactured to the exact dimensions of the existing groundglass so that replacement is very simple. The sides are supplied with black tape so that the projection surface is placed exactly right. This tape also functions as a cushion. Therefore the glass will not touch the metal.

Mounting the screen should be done evenly and care should be taken not to tighten the screws too much.

Grid lines

The grid lines are positioned in accordance with the original groundglass of the respective camera manufacturer. On some types of 9 x 12 (4" x 5") glasses, marks are placed which correspond with the 6 x 9 rollfilmcassette size.

Corners

Specifically the larger Bosscreens™ have transparent corners. By this, vignetting can be spotted, caused for example by extreme use of the compendium.

Care and guarantee

Under normal circumstances the groundglass will probably outlast your camera. However, pay attention to the following:

It is glass and therefore it can break

The projection layer will melt above 55 degrees centigrade and then the groundglass will be rendered useless.

By mounting the screen unevenly or by tightening the screws too much the glass will bend so far that the intermediate layer will delaminate from the glass. Matt circles will appear in the screen. The screen will be rendered useless.

Cleaning should be done with a soft cloth with a little glasscleaner or simply with soap and lukewarm water.

Ordering Bosscreens

When ordering a Bosscreen it is sometimes sufficient to mention the camera's manufacturer and camera type. However there are so many different types of cameras that it proves impossible to keep track of all relevant data concerning dimensions and tolerances of the corresponding groundglasses. Therefore it is best to supply us with

your camera's framesize (length and width)

maximum spacing in the frame for the groundglass

the thickness of your original groundglass.

clear type or a printed type with gridlines.

Naturally we need your (company) name, addresses for shipment and invoice, following contact information (if applicable):

 e-mail address

 phone number

 fax number

Please send this information and any question you might have to our stabilix representative.
